    New Operafestival di Roma is an Italian non-profit organization whose aim is to offer young musicians and singers from all nations the opportunity to perform in Rome, participating in the International Lyric Academy in Rome (ILAR).

The ILAR is a unique occasion for students and emerging Artists; during an intensive month, they receive professional coachings, voice lessons and partecipate in a full range of classes, recitals and rehearsals culminating in eight fully staged performances of "LE NOZZE DI FIGARO" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and four of "IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA" by Gioacchino Rossini with the New Operafestival Symphony Orchestra.

Singers will be offered repertoire and diction coaching, italian lessons, Master Classes, acting, training for auditions, and career strategy.

 The cost of the Academy is :

Session a)     $ 4300     OPERA     June 26 –  August 3                                  

                    $ 1800  Instrumentalists (Orchestra) June 26 - August 3

Session b)    $ 2800     ENSEMBLE PROGRAM  June 26 –  August 3

                    $ 1800  Instrumentalists (Orchestra) June 24 - August 4

with the first payment of $ 2,000 due March 15, 2004 and the second payment due May 15, 2004.  All partecipants pay their own travel and meals.

The cost without accomodation is:

session a) $3800 Opera

session b) $2300 Ensemble

$1300 Instrumentalists

PERIOD:  June - August

POSITIONS: Leading roles, supporting roles, apprentices, chorus, accompanists and soloists.

OPPORTUNITIES: Opera roles, Concerts of Bel Canto with Full Professional Orchestra, recitals and auditions with important international agencies and artists managers.

LOCATION: The Courtyard of the Basilica of San Clemente, situated three hundred yards from the Colosseum.

FEE and COSTS: An initial $ 35.00 (non refundable) Audition Fee is due at the time of the audition or included with audition tapes mailed in for review.

 

HOTEL: Academy full tuition includes all classes and accomodations at the Centro Universitario Marianum.All rooms are air conditioned, bathroom, double occupancy and include daily maid service and breakfast. Single occupancy rooms are avalaible for an additional $ 250 and must be reserved at the time the first deposit is due. From February 1st the single rooms are not available. Lunch and dinner are not included and must be budgeted by the student.

INSURANCE: All participants must have health insurance in effect during the time period of the Academy. The ILAR can recommend a travel insurance company should you need assistance.

SCHOLARSHIPS:  Some full scholarships will be assigned from the Artistic Commission of the International Lyric Academy  based on  talent and programs needs.

AUDITIONS: Auditions for Singers, Pianists, Conductors and Instrumentalists are  required. Audition tapes (recorded in the last year) accepted for review. Audition fee is $ 35.00 (non-refundable) at the time of audition or enclosed with audition tape. Send tapes, rèsumè and check payable to the "New Operafestival di Roma", at the address below:
